Allegations are mounting against the Jharkhand government for allegedly creating new criminal cases to shield itself from scrutiny over existing crimes. Opposition leader Babulal Marandi has stated that such acts have become routine for the government and the system. The Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) recent probe into the widespread coal mafia activities in Dhanbad has uncovered alarming evidence. The most concerning revelation is the alleged directive from high-ranking police officials, whose wealth is reportedly derived from the illegal coal trade, to have their own operatives ‘permanently removed.’ This sinister plan, according to Marandi, is designed to prevent any information from reaching the ED during its ongoing interrogations. He warned that plots are allegedly being hatched to murder individuals cooperating with the investigation to prevent the truth from emerging. This strategy, he noted, resembles past instances where ‘evidence encounters’ were used to silence witnesses. Marandi referenced a former DGP in Jharkhand who faced accusations of orchestrating contract killings and being exceptionally corrupt, a sentiment even echoed by members of the ruling coalition. The opposition leader strongly advised the ED to remain highly cautious, emphasizing that in Jharkhand, the powerful protect secrets, not reveal them. When the government, the system, and criminal syndicates operate in unison, the perversion of justice is almost inevitable.
