
In connection with threats made to Jharkhand’s Health Minister, Dr. Irfan Ansari, police have arrested Jayant Kumar Singh from the Sarnath police station area in Varanasi. The mobile phone used in the threats has also been recovered. The suspect, Jayant Kumar Singh, is a medical student pursuing his MBBS.
An FIR was filed at the Steel City police station in Bokaro district on Monday after Dr. Irfan Ansari, the Health Minister of the Jharkhand government, received death threats.
The complaint stated that the Health Minister, Dr. Irfan Ansari, received multiple calls from the same number, with the caller threatening him. Following the registration of the case, the Jharkhand Police started tracing the mobile number used to threaten Dr. Irfan Ansari. However, the accused, Jayant Kumar Singh, kept changing his location.
According to sources, the Jharkhand Police, with the help of the Sarnath police in Uttar Pradesh, arrested the accused, Jayant Kumar, on Thursday while he was attempting to flee towards Ghazipur. The police apprehended Jayant Kumar Singh, who had threatened Jharkhand’s Health Minister, Dr. Irfan Ansari, during this attempt.
The mobile phone used for making the threats has also been recovered. It is reported that he kept misleading the police and was planning to escape to Ghazipur. Based on his mobile location, the Jharkhand Police, with the assistance of the Sarnath Police, surrounded and apprehended him near Audihar by intercepting a roadways bus. Jayant Kumar Singh, the accused of threatening Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari, holds an MBBS degree and was preparing for a master’s degree in medicine. He also has a house in Shillong, Meghalaya.
