The Jharkhand High Court is actively pursuing improvements within the state’s prison system. During a hearing on a public interest litigation, the court heard the state government’s perspective on the matter. The division bench, consisting of Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice Rajesh Shankar, has ordered the state to provide a detailed status report outlining the progress in filling vacant positions within the jails. The next hearing is scheduled for August 12. The state government previously stated that appointments are ongoing after the implementation of the model jail manual, which received cabinet approval.
