Jharkhand’s Leader of Opposition and BJP State President, Babulal Marandi, has leveled a strong accusation against the ruling administration, alleging that the government is fabricating new criminal incidents to conceal a growing problem of crime. According to Marandi, the government and the system have developed a habit of creating false narratives by manufacturing new offenses. Recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) operations targeting the extensive illegal coal trade in Dhanbad have unearthed disturbing facts. A particularly grave concern is the alleged instruction given by senior police officials, who are reportedly profiting from the coal mafia’s wealth, to ‘permanently eliminate’ certain associates of the apprehended individuals. This alleged conspiracy aims to prevent those under ED scrutiny from revealing damaging truths. Marandi warned that the ED must proceed with extreme caution, highlighting that in Jharkhand, silence and deception are often rewarded over truth. He noted that when political power, administrative structures, and criminal syndicates align, the perversion of justice becomes almost inevitable. The state has a history, he recalled, of seeing police leadership accused of orchestrating staged encounters to cover up crimes and amassing corrupt wealth.
