Nine extremists from the banned Jharkhand Janmukti Parishad (JJMP) surrendered in Latehar district of Jharkhand, marking a significant victory for security forces. The surrender included a collection of sophisticated weaponry, including AK-47s and other advanced firearms. The surrender is viewed as a major step forward in the state’s efforts to eradicate Naxalism and extremism. The state government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy played a key role in this achievement. Five of the surrendered extremists had substantial rewards totaling 23 lakh rupees on their heads. The surrender involved the submission of 12 high-tech weapons, 1782 rounds of ammunition, and 26 magazines.
