
Tragedy struck the Khunti district of Jharkhand as the village head was murdered in his home. A group of armed individuals forcibly entered the victim’s residence late Saturday night, initiating a brutal assault. The attackers first beat the village head with sticks and blunt objects before shooting him. The village head’s nephew, who tried to intervene, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.
The incident occurred during a rainstorm. The armed group, exceeding six in number, entered the house of Gram Pradhan Balram Manda. The attackers immediately began beating him with sticks and weapons, then shot him. They remained in the house for about half an hour, causing damage and destruction.
Following the murder, the assailants escaped. The news of the attack quickly spread throughout the village. Police from the Maranghada police station arrived at the scene, collected the deceased’s body, and launched an investigation to apprehend the criminals. Authorities are investigating the motives, including the possibility of robbery or a personal dispute.
The deceased, Balram Manda, was a member of the BJP in the Khunti district and had previously held the position of BJP Mandal Minister. Following the news of his death, former Jharkhand Minister Nilkanth Singh Munda and other BJP leaders visited the family, offering condolences and demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible.
