A distressing incident has unfolded in the Simdega district of Jharkhand, where a husband was allegedly set on fire by his wife following a dispute. The incident occurred in the Ganjhu Toli area of the Genmer Panchayat in the Bano block. Manoj Singh, the husband, was critically injured after his wife, Puja Devi, reportedly poured petrol on him and set him ablaze. He has been transferred to Rourkela’s IGH hospital for treatment and is in a critical condition.
Following the incident, the Girda OP police took Puja Devi into custody and initiated an investigation. According to local sources, Manoj and Puja had been married for approximately four months. The couple reportedly had a domestic argument on Friday, but the situation seemed to have calmed down. Later, as Manoj was outside the house, his wife allegedly attacked him, pouring petrol on him and setting him on fire. The swiftness of the attack resulted in severe burns before help arrived. The local villagers managed to extinguish the fire and transport the injured husband to the hospital. The police are looking into the details of this incident, which has shocked the community.
In another incident earlier this year in Gumla, a similar crime took place where a woman attacked her husband with an axe and set him on fire, after an argument about cooking.
