
The much-anticipated Deoghar Shravani Mela in Jharkhand, a major religious event, commenced with a traditional inauguration ceremony. The opening was marked by the chanting of Vedic mantras, with Tourism Minister Sudivya Kumar, Labour Minister Sanjay Yadav, and Panchayati Raj Minister Deepika Pandey Singh officiating the ribbon-cutting. Prior to the ceremony, the ministers and district officials engaged in a Vedic prayer session led by temple priests. Tourism Minister Sudivya Kumar and Labour Minister Sanjay Yadav participated in the ‘Bam Bam Bhole’ and ‘Bol Bam’ chants with devotees entering through the Dumma gate. During his address, Minister Sudivya Kumar highlighted the special arrangements in place for the current year, including the use of artificial intelligence to aid pilgrims. He acknowledged the global appeal of the mela and underscored the importance of community involvement for its success, requesting the people of Deoghar to foster positive interactions with visitors. He also discussed plans for future improvements, such as constructing flyovers to enhance the pilgrim experience. The Chief Minister was unable to attend due to a prior commitment. Minister Deepika Pandey Singh praised the district administration for its meticulous organization of the mela, recognizing its significance as a premier event in Jharkhand. She emphasized the state’s commitment to presenting a favorable image to the diverse global audience. Labour Minister Sanjay Yadav emphasized the widespread benefits of the mela across the Santhal region, highlighting its annual significance. He encouraged the local community to celebrate their heritage and make the mela a resounding success. The event was graced by the presence of several prominent figures, including local legislators and administrative officials. The Deoghar Shravani Mela, starting July 11, will facilitate a direct pilgrimage route for devotees from Sultanganj to the Baba Dham temple, covering a distance of approximately 110 kilometers and entering through the Dumma gate.
