
Early trends from the Ghatsila Assembly by-election in East Singhbhum district show a clear advantage for the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). Candidate Somesh Chandra Soren has taken a commanding lead after the completion of the third round of vote counting. Soren has secured an impressive 16,110 votes, significantly outperforming the BJP’s Babulal Soren, who has received 8,569 votes so far. This translates to a lead of approximately 7,541 votes for the JMM nominee.
The ongoing counting for this tribal-reserved seat is being conducted under strict security protocols. In the third round, the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) candidate, Ramdas Murmu, garnered 5,278 votes. Support for other political outfits and independents was also recorded. Panchanan Soren of the Bharat Adivasi Party received 157 votes, and Parvati Hansda of the Peoples Party of India (Democratic) received 60 votes. Independent candidates, including Mansa Ram Haansda (106), Manoj Kumar Singh (114), Dr. Shrilal Kisku (306), and Vikas Hembram (212), also received votes. The NOTA option was chosen by 505 voters. The administration is committed to maintaining the integrity of the counting process, with final results pending further rounds.
