Aspiring jump rope athletes from Koderma district underwent rigorous training and selection trials over two days in preparation for the 17th National Jump Rope Championship. The Jharkhand Jump Rope Association’s event, taking place in Ranchi from January 9th to 11th, saw local talent being honed at CPS Child Progressive School. The Koderma Jump Rope Association facilitated this preparatory camp. The opening ceremony featured remarks from school manager Taufeeq Hussain, who lauded the organizing bodies and emphasized skipping rope as a fundamental exercise for building stamina, skill, and fitness. He recommended its daily practice for everyone. National Trainer Prakash Sah, alongside technical officials Anshu Raj and Anita Kumari, conducted the intensive coaching for about 30 participants. They covered advanced jump techniques required for the national competition. Anshu Raj highlighted the sport’s growing recognition through ‘Khelo India’ and CBSE events, promoting jump rope as a valuable athletic pursuit. Anita Kumari delivered an inspiring address, particularly to the young female participants, advocating for greater support for talented girls in rural areas.
