A national camp themed ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ in Koderma has provided NCC cadets with a unique opportunity to learn about the extraordinary bravery displayed during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Over 600 cadets from across India, representing states like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand, are participating in the 12-day event at Sainik School Tilaiya. The camp is facilitated by the Bihar and Jharkhand Directorate and led by the 45 Jharkhand Battalion NCC.
The ninth day of the camp featured a deeply inspiring session by Colonel Sanjay Kandwal (Sena Medal), a veteran of the 26/11 counter-terrorism operations. Speaking on ‘Nation First, Self Later,’ Colonel Kandwal recounted the details of the attacks and the heroic efforts of the NSG in neutralizing the threat. His own recognition with the Sena Medal for his gallantry in the face of the terrorists underscores the importance of his firsthand account. The cadets listened intently as he presented the challenges and sacrifices made during the ‘Black Tornado’ operation, instilling a sense of admiration and patriotism.
Colonel Kandwal was honored by Commanding Officer Vijay Kumar (Sena Medal) with a memento. The camp also hosted a National Integration Awareness Program, overseen by officers including Abhijit Anand and Naveen Choudhary. Sports enthusiasts enjoyed the thrilling finals of the inter-group volleyball and Kho-Kho matches. Simultaneously, a variety of cultural activities, including dance, music, poster creation, and Rangoli art, are being meticulously prepared by the cadets and instructors, adding a vibrant dimension to the national integration initiative.
