
An important medico-legal awareness and health check-up camp was held for senior citizens at the Koderma old age home, organized by the District Legal Services Authority under the guidance of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Ranchi. The event aimed to provide vital legal insights and health services to the elderly population.
The proceedings included a live online session from Ranchi, where the executive chairman of the state legal services authority launched the Mother Teresa Clinic at another old age home. This virtual event also featured the distribution of medical support and other welfare benefits to senior citizens, reflecting a consistent approach to elder care.
Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Balkrishna Tiwari, served as the chief guest. He emphasized that respecting the elderly is a core moral duty for all citizens. Judge Tiwari assured that the District Legal Services Authority is steadfast in its mission to prevent the violation of senior citizens’ rights and to protect their fundamental liberties. He remarked that true personal and societal advancement is impossible without honoring parents and elders, and that the authority feels honored to serve them.
He advised the new generation to embrace the guidance provided by elders and to be mindful of their daily requirements. Gautam Kumar, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, affirmed the authority’s readiness to offer free legal aid to champion the causes and rights of the elderly. He promised to extend all possible support to ensure the comfort and well-being of the old age home’s residents.
Healthcare professionals from the Koderma Health Department conducted thorough medical check-ups for all senior residents. The Principal District Judge instructed the medical staff to perform regular health screenings and ensure access to necessary medications. He also took time to speak with the elderly individuals, understand their concerns, and examine the living conditions. In a gesture of care, the District Legal Services Authority and District Administration jointly provided blankets, shawls, caps, woolen garments, sweets, and other essential items to the senior citizens.
