Three individuals have been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Ranchi court for their involvement in the daylight murder of land dealer Kamal Bhushan on May 30, 2022. The incident occurred on Devi Mandap Road in the Sukhdev Nagar police station area. The convicted are W. Kujur, Kamal Bhushan’s former business partner, his son Rahul Kujur, and Kavis Adnan. The court, led by Additional Judge Anand Prakash, also ordered each of the accused to pay a fine of ₹15,000. If the fine is not paid, they will face an additional six months of imprisonment. Two other individuals, Sushila Kujur and a government witness, Munwar Afaq, were acquitted due to a lack of evidence. The murder was a culmination of a feud, initiated by the love marriage of Kamal Bhushan’s daughter, Yamini, to Rahul Kujur. Before the fatal shooting, shots were fired at Yamini and her husband, Rahul, near Sadabahar Chowk. This event exacerbated the tensions, leading to W. Kujur and his son being accused of hiring a shooter to eliminate Kamal Bhushan.
