Ranchi Police have successfully disrupted a sex trafficking operation, leading to the detention of 13 individuals, including 11 young women. The raid, conducted on Sunday, also resulted in the seizure of multiple mobile phones and other evidence. The police are actively pursuing further investigation. Acting on a tip, law enforcement officials raided the Om Girls Hostel located within the Lalpur police station jurisdiction. The raid led to the detention of 11 young women and two other individuals for questioning. These young women are originally from Bengal. Ranchi’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) stated that the Ranchi police uncovered a significant sex trafficking ring operating in an organized manner. This ring was being run from the Om Girls Hostel in the Lalpur police station area. After an investigation, a team was formed, led by City Deputy Superintendent of Police (City DSP) K.V. Raman, which also included several female police officers. The team conducted a raid at the Om Girls Hostel in the Lalpur police station area and detained 11 girls. The SSP reported that initial investigations indicated that the girls were housed at the hostel and then dispatched to different locations to meet clients. The police are conducting comprehensive interrogations to identify other individuals involved and to expose the network. The SSP also mentioned that the Ranchi Police had previously taken action against sex trafficking rings operating in hotels. As a result, the operators shifted their base. The information received suggested that the racket was then being run through a girls’ hostel. The role of the hostel operator in this entire racket is currently under investigation.
