The Jharkhand government is facing severe criticism from opposition leader Babulal Marandi, who alleges that authorities are fabricating new crimes as a tactic to conceal serious offenses. Marandi asserts that this practice has become a systemic issue within the state’s governance. The Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) recent investigations into Dhanbad’s coal black market have reportedly unearthed substantial evidence. The opposition leader highlighted a particularly disturbing claim: that certain influential police officers, allegedly enriched by the coal mafia, have been tasked with eliminating their subordinates to prevent any testimony to the ED. Marandi claims that individuals currently being interrogated by the ED are allegedly targets for murder, a move intended to stifle the flow of information. He reminded the public of previous instances where ‘evidence encounters’ were allegedly orchestrated in Jharkhand to cover up criminal activities. Marandi also brought up past allegations against a former DGP concerning contract killings and extensive corruption, noting that these accusations were even voiced by members of the ruling coalition. He issued a stern warning to the ED to remain exceptionally alert, emphasizing that in Jharkhand, suppression of truth is rewarded over its revelation. When government, law enforcement, and criminal syndicates converge, the perversion of justice becomes a foregone conclusion.
