In East Singhbhum’s Mango area, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) convened a vital meeting to accelerate preparations for impending urban local body elections. The gathering, led by chairman Saurav Ojha and coordinated by Mohammed Rizwan, featured Dr. Pawan Pandey, NCP’s National General Secretary for Urban Bodies, as the distinguished chief guest.
Dr. Pandey informed attendees that the Jharkhand urban local body elections could be announced shortly after the Ghatshila by-election. He called for immediate and full-scale political mobilization among all party members. A major point of discussion and demand was the assurance of rightful reservation for SC and OBC categories in the local body polls, as per constitutional provisions. The party stressed that a prerequisite for this is the timely issuance of caste certificates to all eligible SC and OBC individuals. This is crucial for them to be able to stand for election in reserved constituencies.
He further elaborated on the principles of reservation, stating its aim to create a level playing field and ensure equitable participation. Denying these benefits due to administrative delays would defeat the purpose of affirmative action and perpetuate inequality. Dr. Pandey motivated the workers to prepare for significant advocacy efforts to expedite the issuance of caste certificates, highlighting how the current situation hinders access to education, employment, and healthcare for these marginalized groups.
The meeting was attended by several notable party members, including Jitendra Mishra, Tejpal Singh Tony, Lalit Dhingra, Anwar Hussain, Abdul Jabbar, and Firoz Ahmed, underscoring the party’s collective commitment.
