Jharkhand’s agricultural landscape is poised for transformation with the implementation of a cluster-based model for Rabi crop seed distribution. Under this new framework, groups of 80 to 100 villages will form distinct agricultural clusters, each intended to gain recognition for cultivating a specific, high-value crop. This strategic move was outlined by the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Cooperatives during a departmental review. The initiative, part of the Birsa Krishi Vistar Yojana, guarantees seeds will be provided to farmers with a complete 100% subsidy. During the review, the minister emphasized the need for accelerated progress on agricultural projects and the efficient delivery of benefits to beneficiaries. Specific instructions were given to enhance preparations for the Rabi season, including community engagement on pulse and oilseed farming. The outreach strategy has been enhanced, moving farmer seminars from block headquarters to panchayat centers to ensure wider participation and awareness of departmental schemes. Additionally, plans are in motion for a state-level agricultural trade fair in Ranchi this November, with a dedicated team tasked with its successful execution. Following a season of adequate rainfall, farmers anticipate a strong harvest. Seed supplies for the Rabi season will be made available at the district level, aligned with demand, immediately after the completion of the paddy harvest.
