Birsa Zoological Garden is buzzing with excitement over the arrival of a new baby hippo. Lily, the zoo’s female hippo, gave birth to a healthy calf on July 2nd. The baby hippo is currently exploring the zoo with its mother. The zoo is taking measures to ensure the well-being of both mother and child, including providing Lily with multivitamins. This newest addition brings the total number of hippos at the zoo to nine. Visitors will soon be able to see the adorable baby hippo. The zoo’s journey with hippos began in 2008 with the arrival of two from Mysore. Lily was brought to the zoo from Nandankanan Zoo in Odisha in September 2014.
