Following the inauguration of the Ratu Road Elevated Corridor in Ranchi on July 3, 2025, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the future implementation of flash charging electric buses in Jharkhand’s capital. These buses, designed to carry 135 passengers, will offer fares approximately 30% lower than current diesel bus prices.
During his address, Gadkari emphasized the government’s focus on modern transportation solutions, including cable cars and funicular railways. He revealed that a pilot project for flash charging buses is underway in Nagpur, with the necessary tenders already approved. The success of the Nagpur trial will pave the way for the introduction of these buses in Ranchi.
The buses will feature aircraft-style amenities, including comfortable seating and in-bus entertainment, at a significantly reduced cost compared to traditional diesel buses. Responding to a request from Sanjay Seth, Gadkari assured that he would approve the introduction of flash charging buses in Ranchi following the successful deployment in Nagpur.
