Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari’s Jharkhand trip saw an unexpected detour. Gadkari was scheduled to inaugurate national highway projects in Garhwa and then proceed to Ranchi for the unveiling of an elevated corridor. However, Gadkari made a stop in Gaya before arriving in Ranchi. The minister arrived in Ranchi earlier in the day and was welcomed by Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth and other BJP leaders at Birsa Munda Airport. Following the Garhwa events, where he pledged Rs 2 lakh crore for infrastructure development in Jharkhand, the minister was expected back in Ranchi. Due to adverse weather in Garhwa that prevented his helicopter from flying, Gadkari went to Gaya. A chartered flight was sent from Ranchi to bring him to the capital, where he was scheduled to inaugurate the Ratu Road elevated corridor in the evening.
