A significant political confrontation has emerged in Hazaribagh, centered around a ₹12 lakh NTPC tender linked to the residence of MLA Roshanlal Choudhary in Patratu. Barkagaon’s former MLA, Amba Prasad, launched a scathing attack on the incumbent MLA, alleging a deep-seated alliance with mining companies at the cost of public welfare. Prasad detailed the hardships faced by Barkagaon residents, including forced evictions by mining firms, denial of jobs, unresolved land issues, and perilous road conditions. She asserted that the local MLA is actively aiding these companies instead of alleviating the suffering of his constituents.
According to Prasad, MLA Choudhary has failed to initiate any meaningful development in his first year, presenting old projects as new achievements. She labeled this as a deceitful tactic that has stalled Barkagaon’s progress, effectively reducing it to a state of ‘zero development.’ The former MLA also pointed fingers at NTPC’s operational priorities, arguing that their sole focus on coal haulage ignores the plight of local communities and the pressing needs of displaced individuals.
Prasad emphasized that the developmental status of Barkagaon has remained static, reflecting a lack of genuine progress. She accused the current MLA of prioritizing private and corporate gains over public service and urged citizens to recognize this pattern. Concluding her address, Prasad advocated for heightened public engagement and the necessity of initiating a popular movement to champion development, protect the rights of the displaced, and secure opportunities for the region’s youth.
