
A Circle Officer (CO) in Palamu, Jharkhand, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for accepting a bribe of ₹30,000. The arrest took place within the CO’s office as he was receiving the money. The complainant, Ajay Kumar, the former head of Itko Panchayat, had reported that the CO, Shailesh Kumar, had demanded the bribe for the mutation of land. Kumar stated that the bribe was demanded for processing the land mutation applications for his wife and his friend’s wife. The ACB confirmed the allegations through an investigation before setting up the trap. The arrest of the CO has caused a stir, with the incident serving as another reminder of the prevalent corruption issues within government offices in Jharkhand.
