In a significant move to ensure educational standards, Palamu’s Deputy Commissioner, Samira S, personally inspected the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Lesliganj. The inspection was comprehensive, evaluating student turnout, teacher availability, the state of the kitchen, and the hostel accommodations. She also reviewed construction progress with the junior engineer and mandated immediate fixes for a water tank leak and the provision of mosquito nets for the students’ dormitories. During her visit, the Deputy Commissioner briefly took on teaching duties, engaging ninth and eleventh-grade students with subject-specific queries. She also inspected the laboratory, computer room, kitchen, and storerooms. This visit was part of a broader inspection drive initiated by the Deputy Commissioner, who had previously instructed officials to visit designated schools. A meeting with the school’s female teachers followed the inspection, focusing on administrative efficiency. Discussions included the frequency of PTMs, the need for timely updating of student notebooks, and adherence to the academic calendar. Key administrative registers, such as the SMC register, attendance logs, and stock records, were examined. The stock register was seized due to apparent discrepancies requiring further investigation. The Deputy Commissioner declared this her second inspection of the institution and issued a stern warning that any further lapses discovered during her subsequent visit would lead to punitive measures. She underscored the necessity of maintaining student attendance at over 75%. The Deputy Development Commissioner reviewed financial documentation, while other officials fanned out to inspect several other schools in the Nilamber-Pitamberpur region, including state-run and upgraded institutions. A collective meeting was held to analyze the findings from all inspections.
