A surprise inspection by Palamu’s Deputy Commissioner, Sameera S, at the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Leslieganj has led to the seizure of the school’s stock register. The DC’s visit on Saturday focused on assessing the school’s infrastructure, student attendance, faculty presence, and the overall condition of the mess and hostel facilities. She received updates on construction progress and mandated the immediate repair of a leaking water tank, alongside the provision of mosquito nets for the students. Showcasing her commitment, the DC engaged with students in a classroom setting, testing their knowledge in various subjects. Visits to the laboratory, computer room, kitchen, and store were also part of the inspection itinerary. This school visit was part of a broader inspection drive initiated by the DC, who had previously assigned specific schools to district officials for monitoring. A subsequent meeting with the school’s teaching staff addressed key areas such as the frequency of PTMs, the importance of diligently checking student assignments, and adhering to the curriculum timeline. During the review of school records, the stock register raised immediate concerns regarding potential mismanagement, prompting its seizure for a comprehensive investigation. The DC reiterated that this was her second inspection and warned that any shortcomings observed during her upcoming third visit would result in direct action against the responsible individuals. She also emphasized the importance of ensuring student attendance rates exceed 75%. Concurrently, the Deputy Development Commissioner reviewed financial documentation. Other officials also conducted inspections in several schools within the Nilamber-Pitamberpur block, covering institutions in Banuwa, Parshuramkhap, Debra, and Dhangaon, among others. The findings from these inspections were subsequently reviewed by the Deputy Commissioner in a concluding meeting.
