Authorities in Palamu are making a substantial impact on the illegal drug network, demonstrating a robust strategy to dismantle narcotic cultivation and trafficking operations. On December 24, 2025, police executed a series of targeted actions, resulting in the destruction of multiple acres of opium crops and the implementation of technological surveillance measures.
In the Manatu police station area, an important raid was conducted in the forested tracts near Jhanti village, following tip-offs about large-scale opium cultivation. A dedicated police force swiftly reached the site and identified approximately 7 acres dedicated to growing opium. The immature crops were efficiently annihilated using tractors, signaling a stern warning to the illicit business operators.
Simultaneously, the Pipratand police station jurisdiction benefited from advanced policing techniques. Drones were deployed to conduct thorough aerial surveys and physical checks of the area. The results were positive, with no evidence of opium cultivation found during the surveillance. A notable observation by the police was the apparent shift in agricultural practices, with farmers in areas previously known for opium production now cultivating legal crops like pulses and oilseeds. To ensure this trend continues and to deter any future illegal plantings, the police have committed to maintaining regular patrols and vigilant monitoring.
Palamu Police has emphasized that this aggressive campaign will continue until the complete elimination of drug production and trafficking. They are urging the public to actively participate by reporting any information related to illegal farming or smuggling. The police guarantee that the identity of all informants will be kept strictly confidential.
