An MLA has publicly questioned the conduct of police officials following vandalism incidents at DC Lounge outlets in Bistupur and Sakchi, alleging they are shielding the culprits. A formal complaint has been lodged with the Senior Superintendent of Police, demanding an explanation for the Bistupur Police Station Officer-in-Charge’s unexplained late-night visit to the Sakchi DC Lounge. This visit occurred after a reported assault by individuals from Ramdas Bhatta, Bistupur, who allegedly used harmful implements like syringes. The MLA is seeking to understand why the Bistupur SHO entered Sakchi’s jurisdiction, allegedly harassed locals, and if superior orders were obtained. Particular attention is drawn to the apparent over-enthusiasm of another Bistupur officer, Gopal Pandey, who allegedly helped a suspect evade authorities by hiding at a tutor’s home before being taken away. The MLA posits that the police presence might have been an attempt to facilitate the offenders and suppress evidence. The vandalism at the Bistupur DC Lounge is explicitly linked to the earlier violence in Sakchi, challenging the notion of separate incidents and raising doubts about the impartiality of the Bistupur police investigation. The legislator highlighted the alleged improper return of motorcycles, left behind by the attackers at the Sakchi site, by the Bistupur SHO. Instead of following procedure by documenting and seizing the vehicles, the SHO reportedly handed them back to the assailants, a move the MLA condemns as a criminal act. Contrary to police claims of an arrest and recovery of evidence, the MLA possesses video footage showing a planned group assault on the Sakchi DC Lounge by approximately 30-40 individuals, many wearing ‘RD Bhatta’ jerseys. The tutor’s involvement is also reportedly visible. The MLA suspects the police leadership was misled by their subordinates, resulting in an inaccurate public statement. He has urged the SSP to rigorously investigate these allegations, seek detailed explanations from the Bistupur SHO and Gopal Pandey, and examine their professional conduct. The MLA warned that mishandling this case could have serious repercussions for law and order in the Ramdas Bhatta area.
