President Droupadi Murmu has once again demonstrated her deep connection with the armed forces by participating in a dived sortie aboard the Indian Navy’s indigenously built Kalvari-class submarine, INS Vaghsheer. The submarine journey took place off the Western Seaboard, originating from the Karwar Naval Base in Karnataka. This significant undertaking places her in elite company, as only one other Indian President has experienced such an underwater deployment.
During her time on INS Vaghsheer, President Murmu received detailed briefings on the submarine force’s critical role in national maritime security. The discussions focused on the submarine’s impressive operational capabilities and its contribution to India’s strategic defense posture. The President also had the chance to speak with the submarine’s crew, acknowledging their excellent performance and commitment.
Describing INS Vaghsheer as a beacon of Indian naval prowess, President Murmu highlighted its significance as a product of indigenous design and manufacturing. This experience follows her recent aerial exploits, including a flight in a Rafale fighter jet, further solidifying her commitment to understanding and appreciating the diverse facets of India’s defense might. Her direct engagement provides invaluable encouragement to the forces.
