Jharkhand is currently under the spell of a severe cold wave, with the Meteorological Department forecasting frigid conditions for Ranchi and 12 other districts on December 26. The affected areas include Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Gumla, Latehar, Lohardaga, Hazaribagh, Koderma, Khunti, Ranchi, Bokaro, and Ramgarh. The mercury dropped significantly on December 25, with Gumla recording the state’s lowest minimum temperature at a biting 4.0°C. In contrast, Chaibasa recorded the highest maximum at 27.4°C. The chill is widespread, as minimum temperatures in 12 districts fell below 10 degrees Celsius. Cities like Khunti, Hazaribagh, and Pakur experienced temperatures in the 6-8°C range. Ranchi and its vicinity can expect minimum temperatures to stay between 7°C and 9°C from December 26 to December 29. Daytime highs are projected to be around 22°C for the next few days, with overnight temperatures hovering near 7°C, potentially inching up to 9°C by the 29th.
