A shocking case of betrayal and murder has surfaced in Ranchi, Jharkhand, where a woman and her lover are implicated in the killing of her husband. The incident took place within the Pithoria police station jurisdiction. The victim, Lumba Oraon, was found dead in a remote area outside the village of Rahra Monajara, leading to an immediate police response.
Under the supervision of Ranchi’s SSP, Chandaan Kumar Sinha, and Rural SP Praveen Pushkar, a specialized team was assembled to investigate the crime. The investigation revealed that Lumba Oraon’s wife, Geeta Devi, and her lover, Irfan Ansari, had maintained an extramarital relationship for eight years. Upon learning about the affair, Lumba confronted them, which resulted in a physical altercation between Lumba and Irfan. Geeta, influenced by her love for Irfan, turned against her husband. To monitor Lumba’s activities, Geeta and Irfan installed CCTV cameras in his home.
For around eighteen months, Geeta and Irfan meticulously planned the murder, using YouTube videos for guidance. On August 20th, Geeta lured Lumba to a location near Kanke’s BAU under the guise of looking at a rental property. She then gave him a cold drink laced with sleeping pills, followed by alcohol spiked with sedatives. Later, they drove Lumba in an Omni car, where Irfan Ansari strangled him in Geeta’s presence. The body was then discarded in the bushes outside the village, aiming to create the illusion of death by excessive drinking.
SSP cum DIG Chandaan Singh stated that the accused couple had been studying YouTube videos for murder techniques, intending to disguise the killing as an accident. Geeta Devi and Irfan Ansari were arrested in connection with the case. The police seized an Omni car, a motorcycle, a bottle of alcohol containing sleeping pills, and two empty cold drink bottles used to drug Lumba.
