
In Ranchi, Jharkhand, a vehicle belonging to the Namkum police station was struck by a truck transporting illegal sand. The collision resulted in significant injuries to the officer-in-charge of Namkum police station, Manoj Kumar, and a constable, Amit Kumar. They were promptly taken to a private hospital in Namkum with help from nearby residents. Given the seriousness of their injuries, they were later transferred to Orchid Hospital in Ranchi for further medical care.
The incident led to immediate action from the Ranchi district administration. SSP cum DIG Chandan Kumar Sinha personally went to Orchid Hospital to check on the injured officers. He spoke with the officer-in-charge to understand the details of the incident.
The collision occurred on the Ranchi-Tata road, near Gadke village, where the officer-in-charge was patrolling to regulate traffic. A truck, loaded with illegal sand and speeding from the Rampur direction, directly hit the officer-in-charge’s vehicle. The force of the impact caused the police vehicle to overturn, causing severe injuries to both the officer-in-charge and a constable. The truck also overturned, and the driver fled the scene.
Local residents quickly assisted in getting the injured to the hospital for treatment. The officer-in-charge suffered a severe head injury and received over ten stitches. The two injured officers were admitted to a private hospital in Ranchi. This incident comes after an earlier incident at the Lapung police station in Ranchi, where police officers were attacked by anti-social elements and an angry mob while trying to resolve a land dispute. The in-charge of Lapung police station, Santosh Kumar Yadav, and three other police officers were seriously injured in that attack.
