A devastating road accident occurred on the Harmu Bypass Road in Ranchi, Jharkhand, a section known for its VIP status. The incident, which took place near the BJP’s Jharkhand state office in the Argora police station area, involved a speeding car that struck five individuals, causing widespread alarm throughout the city.
The collision resulted in the immediate deaths of three people, while two others sustained serious injuries. The injured were promptly taken to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving critical medical care. It has been reported that the driver of the car was driving under the influence of alcohol when the accident took place.
The aftermath of the horrific accident, and the deaths of three people on the spot, saw a large group of people erupt in anger. The crowd, fueled by outrage, blocked the road by placing the bodies of the deceased on the road, effectively halting traffic in the area. Local residents expressed their discontent, pointing out that despite the road’s designation as a VIP route, it took an hour for the ambulance to reach the scene. They believe that earlier medical intervention might have saved the lives of the victims.
The impact was severe, as the speeding Fortuner car struck five pedestrians. The vehicle then went on to hit the divider and crashed into a tree on the opposite side of the road. The driver of the Fortuner was reportedly intoxicated. The enraged crowd apprehended the driver before the Argora police arrived and took him into custody.
Authorities worked to appease the distressed crowd and restore order. DSP PK Mishra of Hatia promised strict legal action against the accused, leading the crowd to clear the road. DSP Mishra stated that the accident was a result of a speeding Fortuner driven recklessly, leading to the deaths of three people and injuries to two others. He confirmed that the injured were receiving medical treatment and that the driver would face severe consequences.
