
Ranchi’s sporting landscape lit up on Tuesday with the official launch of the 8th B.K. Birla Ranchi District Inter-School Taekwondo Championship 2025-26 at Sarla Birla Public School. Hosted by the Ranchi District Taekwondo Association, the event sees more than 230 participants from over 16 local schools vying for supremacy over two days. Competitions are underway for boys and girls across Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 divisions. The initial day focused on the Under-14 competitors, with the Under-17 and Under-19 categories scheduled for conclusion on October 15th. The championship’s opening was marked by an energetic welcome performance, a creative fusion of Taekwondo drills and dance. Inspiring speeches from esteemed guests and a traditional lighting of lamps amplified the celebratory mood. This championship is designed to champion physical agility, mental toughness, disciplined behavior, and the ethics of fair competition among students. Principal Manisha Sharma inspired the participants, encouraging them to strive for their best while adhering to the rules of the game. She articulated that Taekwondo goes beyond mere sport, serving as a powerful tool for enhancing concentration, fostering respect, and building inner strength. She also emphasized the role of such championships in making students more robust in body and mind, helping them embrace the true values of confidence and self-control.
