
An unusual event in Ranchi, Jharkhand, saw villagers capturing a man-eating tiger that entered their village. The presence of the tiger created widespread panic, drawing a crowd to the location where it was contained. The Forest Department responded promptly to manage the situation.
The incident took place in Mardu village, within the Silli assembly constituency. Purandar Mahto heard unusual sounds and upon investigation, found a tiger inside his home. He exhibited commendable presence of mind by securing the room from outside without alarming the animal.
The news of the tiger’s presence triggered a state of alarm in the village. Residents, shaken by fear, gathered near the house where the tiger was held. The Forest Department’s rescue team will sedate the tiger before initiating the rescue. The arrival of the tiger has created a challenging situation for both the villagers and the authorities.
A specialist rescue team from the Palamu Tiger Reserve was immediately dispatched. The incident has intensified the existing fear among the villagers. Earlier, the Garhwa and Latehar districts in Jharkhand had experienced issues with leopard attacks, which had created fear among the locals.
