The Narsingh Sthan temple in Hazaribagh witnessed an unprecedented surge of devotees on Wednesday, marking the auspicious occasion of Kartik Purnima. Located a few kilometers outside the city on Barkagaon Road, the temple became the focal point for spiritual observance, with thousands engaging in holy dips and prayers to Lord Narsingh. The spiritual fervor began well before dawn, with the temple area crowded from 3 AM onwards.
The Kartik Purnima fair here is a major event, attracting devotees and visitors from surrounding districts who came to participate in the religious ceremonies. To ensure public safety and maintain order amidst the massive crowd, a comprehensive security force was deployed, including 15 magistrates, 100 police personnel, and 10 police officials. The Superintendent of Police, Anjani Anjan, joined the devotees in offering prayers at the Narsingh Sthan.
Several local dignitaries, such as Congress leader Munna Singh and Sadar MLA Pradeep Prasad, visited the temple to offer their prayers and seek blessings. The temple authorities implemented a system of separate queues for male and female devotees, ensuring a systematic and respectful darshan for all attendees.
The fair was a lively affair, with a brisk trade in sugarcane being a highlight. Festival-goers enthusiastically bought sugarcane. The temple complex holds immense religious significance, housing statues of Lord Vishnu in his ten avatars – Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narsingh, Vamana, Parashurama, Rama, Krishna, Buddha, and Kalki. Temples dedicated to Goddess Kali and Lakshmi Narayan are also part of the sacred site.
