
At Sarla Birla University, the Mental Health Club has taken a proactive step in promoting student welfare by hosting an interactive counseling session. The theme, “Stress Management and Emotional Wellbeing,” resonated with attendees in the university’s main auditorium, underscoring the growing importance of mental health support.
The session featured Ms. Tanushree Sengupta, a senior counselor at Army Public School, Ranchi, as the distinguished speaker. Leveraging her quarter-century of experience as a counselor and family therapist, Ms. Sengupta guided students through the intricate landscape of mental wellness. Her discourse covered critical aspects such as building self-awareness, enhancing emotional intelligence, and developing resilience. Practical guidance was provided on adopting a solution-oriented mindset, fostering self-respect, establishing emotional boundaries, achieving greater self-understanding, engaging positively with society, mastering self-care, and effectively managing interpersonal connections.
Ms. Sengupta employed engaging methods, including inspirational videos and participatory activities, to make the complex subject matter accessible and impactful. Dr. Neelima Pathak, Dean of Yogic Sciences & Naturopathy and chief of the Mental Health Club, initiated the program with a warm welcome, also marking “World Students Day” and reaffirming the club’s commitment to student development.
The successful event concluded with Dr. Priyanka Pandey, the club coordinator, extending her heartfelt thanks to Ms. Sengupta for her insightful contribution. The occasion was graced by the presence of several faculty members, including Dr. Nandini Sinha, Ms. Anjana Kumari Singh, and Ms. Neha Nupur. Key university administrators, namely Pro-Chancellor Bijoy Kumar Dalan, Director General Prof. Gopal Pathak, Vice-Chancellor Prof. C. Jagannathan, and Rajya Sabha Member Dr. Pradeep Kumar Verma, shared their commendation for the event’s organization and impact.
