The collapse of a bridge in Jharkhand’s Khunti district has created a perilous situation for students eager to attend school. The bridge, which was part of the Khunti-Simdega main road, suffered damage on June 19th due to heavy rainfall. In response, villagers constructed bamboo ladders across the Banai River to provide a way to cross. Children are now seen scaling these makeshift ladders to reach their schools, a dangerous climb of roughly 20-25 feet. The local administration has since taken action, removing the ladders for safety. The bridge’s failure has also impacted the local community, adding approximately 12 kilometers to the daily commute for residents of several villages. The incident occurred during a period of severe weather, with several districts placed on high alert.
