Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand, is facing significant challenges due to continuous heavy rainfall over the past 30 hours. The Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert for more than 15 districts, signaling the adverse weather conditions affecting the region. The heavy rainfall has led to widespread disruption, with roads and low-lying areas inundated, hindering daily activities.
The extent of waterlogging on Ranchi’s roads has transformed them into virtual lakes, making travel difficult. A concerning incident took place on Monday evening near the Kantatoli flyover, where a section of the main road was submerged under water. A white Scorpio car, navigating this flooded area, was swallowed by a large pothole that was filled with water.
Quick action by local residents ensured the safe rescue of the car’s occupants. The video of the submerged Scorpio has quickly spread on social media. The Meteorological Department has extended the Yellow Alert for rain in Ranchi and over 15 other districts, expecting the adverse weather to persist for the next 24 to 48 hours.
Furthermore, the department has issued warnings regarding lightning strikes during the ongoing heavy rainfall. Tragically, two individuals lost their lives in Heselpiri village, within the Budhmu police station area of Ranchi, on Sunday evening after being struck by lightning. The deceased were identified as Bal Govind Mahato and Udaynath Mahato, who were returning home with their livestock when the incident occurred.
