Jhumri Tilaiya is embracing a cleaner future with SDO Riya Singh at the helm of an invigorated municipal sanitation drive. The Municipal Council’s commitment to robust waste management is evident in the accelerated door-to-door garbage collection across all 28 wards. SDO Singh’s leadership has injected new life into the campaign, which has successfully launched household waste pickup services in Chitragupta Nagar, targeting an impressive outreach to 27,000 homes by December.
The initiative has been met with enthusiastic participation, fostering a renewed sense of civic pride in cleanliness. Municipal Administrator Ankit Gupta highlighted SDO Riya Singh’s crucial role in organizing sanitation awareness programs in strategic locations such as Water Tank Road, Block Road, and Chitragupta Nagar. A novel approach to public engagement involves fitting waste collection tippers with a recognizable ‘Kachra Nikaliye’ sound, serving as an audible cue for residents to present their waste. Furthermore, Gupta confirmed that all waste vehicles are now fitted with GPS devices, enabling real-time tracking and supervision on large display screens at the Municipal Council offices.
Figures from the Municipal Council indicate a daily collection of 28 to 32 tons of waste, marking significant progress towards the ‘Green Tilaiya, Clean Tilaiya’ objective. Officials like City Manager Lemanshu Kumar, Randhir Verma, and Sanitation Inspector Raju Ram were present, reinforcing the message that maintaining a clean city requires everyone’s effort and cooperation.
