Police in Ranchi successfully neutralized a segment of the dreaded Sujeet Sinha criminal syndicate following a tense shootout near Balsiring in the Tupudana OP area. The dawn operation led to the arrest of two individuals, with one suffering an injury from police gunfire. Three firearms were confiscated from the encounter location.
The arrested criminals are believed to be responsible for a recent firing incident outside the residence of Monu Rai in Doranda. Authorities have identified the apprehended suspects as Aftab (wounded), Sonu, and an additional associate, all allegedly acting under Sinha’s command for the Doranda attack.
Rural SP Praveen Pushkar stated that the encounter resulted in one suspect being shot and two being taken into custody. He also confirmed the recovery of three pistols. The investigation is ongoing to dismantle the wider network.
The police action was prompted by intelligence provided to SSP Rakesh Ranjan concerning the whereabouts of Sinha’s operatives. A joint team, spearheaded by Rural SP Praveen Pushkar and Hatiya DSP P.K. Mishra, along with personnel from multiple police stations, intensified their search. Increased vehicle checks across the city, particularly for motorcyclists, proved instrumental. A pistol was discovered during a routine checkpoint.
Further investigation of the motorcyclist, identified as Sonu, a known associate of Sujeet Sinha, led to crucial information. Sonu admitted that his fellow gang members were congregating at the Balsiring hills. Based on this intelligence, Rural SP Praveen Pushkar deployed a specialized team. As the police advanced, the criminals opened fire, forcing the police to retaliate. Aftab was injured in the ensuing firefight, and another member was arrested. Both individuals are currently in police custody for questioning, while SSP Rakesh Ranjan personally assessed the situation at the encounter site.
