
The South Chotanagpur Regional Police Sports Competition began on Friday at Ranchi’s Police Line on Kanke Road, marking the start of a three-day athletic event. The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Ranchi Zone Inspector General (IG) Manoj Kaushik as the chief guest, along with Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan and the Superintendents of Police from Simdega and Khunti, who jointly released balloons to signify the commencement of the games. Speaking at the event, IG Manoj Kaushik emphasized that sports contribute immensely to enhancing both physical and mental capabilities. He specifically pointed out the benefit of stress reduction, noting that while stress is a constant factor in police work, maintaining physical fitness through sports is the key to managing it effectively. Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan stated that athletic activities are a cornerstone of police officers’ daily lives, contributing to their physical fitness. He further emphasized that the overall efficiency of the police department relies heavily on the fitness of its personnel, thus highlighting the critical role of sports. The competition features a diverse range of sports, including volleyball, basketball, football, handball, hockey, kabaddi, karate, and athletics. Winners securing the first position will be eligible for national-level competitions. Police teams from Ranchi, Lohardaga, Simdega, Khunti, and Gumla districts are actively participating in this tournament, demonstrating their sporting skills over the next three days. The opening ceremony was attended by a significant number of police officers.
