After the distressing situation of migrant workers trapped in Niger, another group of Jharkhand workers is now stranded in Dubai. Fifteen workers from various districts, including Giridih, Hazaribagh, and Dhanbad, are seeking help to return home. Two workers are from the Bagodar block. The workers were employed by Masai Contracting LLC in January 2024. The stranded workers and their families are facing severe hardship due to non-payment of wages. One worker’s wife, Kaushila Devi, detailed that her husband went to Dubai in January 2024, but has not received wages for three months. This has created difficulties in meeting basic needs like food, and rent. The families are worried about their children’s education and household expenses. The workers and their families are appealing to the government for help and the recovery of their unpaid wages. One worker’s son, Kundan Kumar, who passed his matriculation exam, is also facing difficulties in pursuing further education due to financial constraints.
