Following recent threats against prominent figures in Jharkhand, including the Health Minister and a Member of Parliament, the Director of RIMS, Dr. Rajkumar, has become the latest target. A phone call from a man named Chandan Kumar contained threats of physical harm and an ultimatum to leave Ranchi within 15 days.
Dr. Rajkumar revealed that he had previously interacted with Chandan Kumar, who operates a private hospital in Ranchi. The director indicated that Kumar had attempted to influence RIMS affairs, which led to the director ceasing communication with him. When the director resisted pressure related to transfers and postings, Kumar escalated his threats via WhatsApp, using abusive language and reiterating his intent to remove the director from the city.
An FIR has been registered at the Bariatu police station, and an investigation is underway.
Dr. Rajkumar previously faced controversy when he was initially removed from his position as RIMS Director on April 18, 2025. He contested the decision in the Jharkhand High Court, which then stayed the removal order, leading to his reinstatement on April 29, 2025.
