A husband and his two wives have been arrested in Ranchi for their involvement in a series of mobile phone thefts. The unusual case involves Kunal Rawani and his wives, Meera Devi and Deepali Devi, who were apprehended by the police after being caught stealing mobile phones during Durga Puja celebrations. The group, hailing from the Balumath area of Latehar district, had traveled to Ranchi to participate in the festivities. However, they utilized the crowded environment to target female devotees. The police, along with the puja committees, were already on high alert due to a surge in mobile phone thefts. The two women were caught in the act at a puja pandal near the Kali Mandir on Ratu Road. They were caught stealing phones after a priest noticed their suspicious behavior. Upon their arrest, two stolen mobile phones were recovered, and they confessed that their husband, Kunal Rawani, was waiting nearby. Kunal was subsequently apprehended, and the police seized more stolen phones and a motorcycle from him. He was unable to provide documentation for the motorcycle, leading the police to suspect it was also stolen. The Sukhdevnagar police have arrested the trio and sent them to jail, making this incident a significant talking point in Ranchi. The city is abuzz with the news of a husband and his two wives engaged in a coordinated theft operation. This follows an earlier incident where Ranchi police arrested five criminals in September, connected to a major robbery and other significant thefts, recovering substantial cash, jewelry, motorcycles and phones.
