
A significant theft attempt involving copper cables at the Tata Steel Works was thwarted due to the alert security team. Four individuals were apprehended in the act and subsequently handed over to the police, who are now pursuing legal action against them.
The incident, which occurred around 1 AM on Saturday, saw security personnel on patrol intercepting four young men. They were found in possession of nearly 700 kg of copper cable, packed into heavy sacks, with an estimated market worth of INR 1,97,000.
The four accused, all young adults from the Mango area, were identified and have been taken into custody by the Bistupur police.
Company security officials stated that their suspicions led them to secure the area, resulting in the capture of the perpetrators as they attempted to make their escape with the stolen materials. The security team secured the valuable copper cables on site.
Authorities confirmed the arrest and are conducting further investigations. The successful prevention of this theft highlights the effectiveness of the security protocols and the diligence of the Tata Steel Works security personnel.
