
A devastating incident unfolded in Ranchi, Jharkhand, where a 5-year-old girl was raped during a wedding ceremony. The young victim was lured away with the promise of mangoes by the perpetrator. He took her to an isolated garden where he committed the heinous act. The assault was revealed when the traumatized girl returned home, covered in blood. Her family immediately sought medical attention, taking her to Chanho CSC for initial treatment. She was later transferred to RIMS Hospital in Ranchi due to the seriousness of her condition. Outraged community members caught the accused, Karmdev Uraon, and subjected him to a brutal beating. Police intervened to remove the suspect from the angry crowd and brought him to the Chanho police station. A case has been registered against him under the POCSO Act and other relevant legal provisions based on the family’s report. The event happened in a village under the Chanho police station area, approximately 30 kilometers from Ranchi. The accused, identified as 25-year-old Karmdev Uraon, lured the girl, who had accompanied her family to the wedding, to a secluded garden with the offer of mangoes before committing the crime. Reports suggest the accused was intoxicated at the time.
