Speculation about FBI Director Kash Patel’s potential dismissal has been met with a firm denial from President Donald Trump. Reports, notably from MS NOW, had suggested that Trump and his senior advisors were contemplating removing Patel from his post due to ongoing negative press. These reports relied on claims from three individuals reportedly familiar with internal administration discussions, who stated that replacements were being considered.
Addressing the rumors head-on, President Trump stated, “No, he’s doing a good job. Kash Patel? He’s doing a great job, I think.” This public affirmation is intended to put an end to the conjecture about a leadership change at the FBI.
The White House has strongly refuted the accuracy of the reporting. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt described the MS NOW story as “completely made up.” She provided context by noting that she was in the Oval Office when the report surfaced and witnessed President Trump in a meeting with Patel and other law enforcement officials at that very moment. Leavitt added that Trump found the speculation laughable and took a photo with Patel to underscore his support.
According to the initial MS NOW report, President Trump had privately discussed Andrew Bailey, a senior FBI official, as a possible candidate to replace Patel. The report also indicated that Patel was under significant pressure, though it conceded that the President’s decisions were subject to change.
Patel has recently faced increased scrutiny regarding his management of the FBI. Key areas of concern have included the security arrangements for his girlfriend, his use of government aircraft, and reported internal conflicts with other Trump-aligned officials. Andrew Bailey has been previously identified as a potential candidate for both the Director and Deputy Director positions, currently held by Dan Bongino.
