
A cloudburst in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir has caused a significant tragedy. The event, which occurred overnight between August 16 and 17, resulted in at least four fatalities and injuries to six others. The heavy rainfall caused severe damage in the Ghati area, with numerous houses being destroyed and buried by floodwaters and debris. The Jammu–Pathankot National Highway has also experienced damage due to the cloudburst. Rescue teams are actively involved in rescue operations.
Authorities have been quick to respond to the disaster. The civilian administration, along with the military and paramilitary forces, have started working to provide assistance. Efforts are being made to monitor the situation closely.
