Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP’s national convener, addressed a gathering of party members, including MLAs, councilors, and former candidates. He strongly criticized the BJP, focusing on issues such as the ED’s actions against AAP leaders, the impact of US tariffs on India, and the current state of governance in Delhi. He emphasized his unwavering commitment to the country, stating that he would go to any extent for the nation but would not compromise on principles for the sake of power or personal interests.
Kejriwal spoke about US President Trump’s imposition of tariffs on India, claiming that Prime Minister Modi had capitulated to Trump’s demands. He highlighted the alleged collusion between the Congress and BJP, citing how the BJP has targeted AAP leaders with fabricated cases. He also brought up the ED raid on Saurabh Bhardwaj’s residence, highlighting how the agency pressured Bhardwaj to alter his statement, and his refusal. He stressed the lengths to which the BJP would go to undermine its political rivals.
Kejriwal then discussed how the BJP has ruined Delhi in the last six months, leading the public to miss the AAP government. He noted how BJP has increased power cuts, raised private school fees, and damaged roads and water supply systems. Kejriwal criticized the BJP’s governance, asserting that they have inflicted hardship on the people and that the electorate would have to wait for the next election to remove the BJP from power.
He added that the BJP is set to end the free electricity subsidy and that the AAP must continue to work for the people. He stated that the AAP’s main goal is to serve the country.
Kejriwal also addressed the issue of US tariffs and condemned Trump’s actions. He stated that the imposition of a 50% tariff on India had led to the closure of many companies, resulting in significant job losses. He contrasted Modi’s response to Trump with how Canada and the European Union reacted, who forced Trump to back down. He pointed out Modi’s decision to end the 11% import duty on cotton in response to Trump’s tariffs, implying a weak response to Trump’s pressure. He predicted that Modi’s actions would be remembered in history as a national disgrace.
