The Kerala High Court has made it clear that health insurance companies cannot deny coverage for medical treatments. The court’s decision, stemming from a writ petition, highlights that rejecting a health insurance claim constitutes a violation of the right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution. Justice P.M. Manoj, presiding over the case, stated that if a person is eligible for insurance and undergoes medical procedures or treatments as per a doctor’s advice, the insurance company must honor the claim. The court’s ruling emphasized that denying such claims would be tantamount to preventing the individual from receiving essential medical care.
