A fierce encounter erupted between security forces and terrorists in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The incident, which took place in the Guddar forest area, resulted in the elimination of one terrorist. The operation is part of a larger effort to combat terrorism in the region, with reports suggesting the presence of multiple militants. The encounter began after security forces, acting on specific intelligence, launched a search operation in the area. Upon approaching a suspected hideout, the forces came under fire, prompting an immediate response and escalating into a gun battle. An army JCO sustained injuries during the operation. The search operation involved the SOG of J&K Police, Army, and CRPF. Alongside the ongoing anti-terrorist operations, authorities announced the arrest of a Pakistani infiltrator along the International Border in the R.S. Pura sector. The infiltrator, identified as Siraj Khan from Sargodha, Pakistan, was apprehended by the BSF at the Octroi post after he was spotted attempting to cross the border. He was challenged, and shots were fired before his arrest near the border fence. Investigation is underway to determine the reason for the infiltration attempt, and some Pakistani currency was recovered from him.
